Put a little system in the Bonneville Yesterday

12" 1500w Alpine Type R powered by a 500w RMS Hifonics Son Of A Boltar amp. Wired to 2ohms. but my wiring is junk and i have horrable voltage drop, with barely any bumps, hopefully tonight ill be getting a Optima Gel Cell Battery, and all new wiring to solvee the problem...

If your voltage is dropping that badly, you need to upgrade your engine bay's power wiring.

Also, the Type R is 500W RMS isn't it?

yes the sub is 500w RMS. My wires are horrible so i think that's the problem. I'm using a 10gauge plastic coated copper wire for a temp power wire. And it only has about 15 thick strands in it. and my ground is a 6 foot long in-home extension cord with the ends cut off. lol. don't judge me. lol. It was just to test these amps i bought. i tested this amp with 2 12" old school Type R's in my buddies Janky Chrysler LHS and the amp performed great with little voltage drop. and the amp pushed those type R's hard at less than 1/2 gain. But in my car i turned the amp up all the way and wouldn't bump that hard in a big ported box, and the amp would cut out when i turned the volume up more. Keep in mind. I didn't drive around with the amp playing like this. I don't want to damage the amp or kill my alternator. I was just checking it out. Our cars should be similar when it comes to charging systems and electrical.
Need wiring bad!

id say change that up to real wiring and then do the big 3. should fix the voltage drop, and make sure your ground is a good one too. lol not judging either mang lol but for real id take that "temp/test" wire out asap. if ya have wire layin around like say 4ga do double runs of that for the big 3, might save a lil loot. i did it just cuz i had the wire already layin around, even got another 20= feet of 4ga still chillin lol. also im not too too sure about that amp but my guess is that it might not do rated power.

im not using that wire anymore.. it was just test wires. Ive always liked Hifonics equipment. And like i said.. It was hitting 2 type R's HARD with less than 1/2 gain and bassboost off. So itll be fine with my 1 Type R

Just a side note... I thought you put your Bonneville on Craigslist.

I've always heard good things about hifonics for the price.
