I have an older version of that amp, the KAC-9103D in the Bonneville, which I bought 3 years ago. I am pushing a single Alpine R12 (500W @ 2 ohm) and that'* about the limit of this amp. I would keep a very close eye on your gain levels and listen very closely for distortion and/or clipping. These amps are overrated. The specs are at 14.4V, which you will not be seeing under load. You will be closer to 13.0-13.8V.

I would hesitate to run this on any more than 500W @ 2 ohms as it is not a CEA certified amp and will likely result in distortion and clipping, which will blow your subs in short order. Please adjust your gain levels to prevent this amp from blowing your subs.

As for wiring it, run a 4 AWG wire to the trunk, and MAKE SURE ITS FUSED. Do not put the fuse in until the entire amp is installed. You can get some very good wire from knukonceptz.com.

What kind of head unit are you using?

X2... its a monoblock to its kinda hard to wire it up wrong... ur gonna be more interested in how to wire the subs... DVC? Whats the impedance of each voicecoil? how u wire the subs depends how much power the amp will put out, r u gonna wire em down to a 4 ohm load? 2? 1? i wouldnt run that amp at a 1 ohm load tho, its its even stable at 1. 2 ohms is debatable

That amp is not 1 ohm stable. Trust me, I tried it with my 1600W Hifonics sub and it constantly overloaded and shut off. Some people have also reported instability at high loads under 2 ohms.

Honestly, I would have picked a different amp if I were you, but since its already bought, you're going to want to listen to what we have to say to prevent from damaging your subs.

I have to agree with X... sorry bud... Some companies just dont make quality products.. If u feel u gotta get a Kenwood (for some god known reason, LOL, j/k) then look into their eXcelon products, and those will still be much less quality than the standard. Kenwood doesnt make quality subs, amps or speakers (a few of their component systems are not to shabby) their HU'* are pretty good tho.

I buy, sell and trade car audio as a hobby, 2nd job and obsession and when i get a kenwood they r easy to get rid of, high school kids always want em , cause they think they r awesome. Dont get me wrong, if u wire it to 4 ohms on 2 Kenwood subs u should be satisfied.

just be careful. I bought 40 blown amps a little while ago to repair and about 10 of them were kenwoods.
Let us know how it goes.

I have a Kenwood eXcelon KAC-X1r lying around (which is one of their best amps) 1200w rms and if i had to guess what the real #'* are i would have to say it might produce about 800w rms. and ur amp will be worse. hope i didnt burst ur bubble, its not like ur competing in SPL or SQ anyhow. it should fit ur needs fine
