Default no sound from output converter and amp to to 10'*

Please can anybody tell me if my 02 Bonneville SLE has a amp in the stock head unit? I'm trying to to hook up a 500w
amp to two 10"'*, i got the output converter hook to the rear speakers( not stock) and grounded, amp stays in protection mode with no sound to 10"*. i'm getting no power to the amp and only a bump about every 5 secs
when the 10'* are connected to the amp. What do i need to do next?

Uhm, well first off did you buy the converter first and are all the wires hooked up? because amps go into protect if they arent grounded or if there is a wiring short, so check your wires and check the ground that your amp is connected to, check and make sure theres no paint on the bolt too
