no rear speakers? - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

On the 88'* you'll want to look in the trunk... You should see 2 covers/boxes over the speakers under the rear deck... On the 87-88 the speakers sit below the deck, on the 89-91 the speakers sit above the deck... If they are there like they should be, they should sound pretty decent... The Bonnevilles had pretty good stereos back then...

It is entirely possible to get a stock Bonneville without rear speakers installed. That'* how mine came, although mine is a 97. Even if it didn't come with rear speakers, it should have the wiring harness for the rear speakers, so definitely look in your trunk at the underside of the rear deck. If you have wires in that area that don't go to anything, and you don't see any speakers, then you know you don't have any!

Mine was apparently ordered as a rental car for Alamo car rentals in Hawaii. Apparently they don't feel the need for rear speakers?
