Default No power to amp with CD on, but works in FM?

Ok, We have had this set up that is currently in my Bonne for years and in quite a few vehicles and it really pounds when its all hooked up right. Well, I have the Alpine head unit installed, but power is only getting to the amp when I listen to the radio, so if I change the power source to CD, the amp turns off, hence no bass from the sub. Is something erroneously connected to the am/fm antenna or something? I was never able to find a wiring diagram for the Bonneville, so I'm sure something is misconnected in the dash....i just dont know what.

Kinda sounds like the remote for the amp is getting its signal from the power antenna remote and the antenna goes down when not using AM/FM?

It sounds like you have the amp turn on lead connected to the power antenna output from the head unit instead of the amp turn output. Check for a different blue wire on the Alpine. I forget which is which... blue or blue/white. One is for power antenna and the other is for amps.

yah i used the turn on lead from the antenna when i wired my amp with my stock headunit because the antenna stayed up all the time when the head unit was on (saved wire and having to run it to the front) but now i had to change it because the antenna only goes up with the radio since i got an aftermarket headunit. your problem like others said is that you tapped into the antenna turn on lead instead of the head unit turn on lead.

Wait a minute now....I don't have a power antenna. Could this still be the issue??? or should I look at it as something else?

yeah, the HU only sends power to the antenna when the radio is on.

I would connect it to any ignitoin wire that is on when the key is in the acc and on position.
