Default newer factory CD in a older 92

Has anyone installed a factory AM/FM/CD from a newer Bonnie (94>) into a slightly older one (mine is a '92) with the steering wheel radio controls? Will it work (wiring, steering, etc) or should I look for a CD player from a 92 or 93 car? Thanks!
Bryan

Yes..a few have. As I remember there are 3 wires that need to be moved. Jimmyfloyd was in the process of making a patch connector to move those wires w/o modding the stock wire connector in the car.

remember that teh Dimmer function wont work on the ECC when you do this....the radio in 92-93 controlled the Dimming of the ECC

Yeah, I'm still in the process of it. But here is the lowdown:

First off, you can take it and use it currently without modifying anything, but you lose Steering wheel controls and dimming on the ECC. You can however, re-arrange the wires in the connector for the steering wheel controls to get them to work. To get the ECC dimming, you need a 94 ECC head unit as it has dimming built in. You'll also need to modify the harness to it if you want to be able to use the self diagnositic functions still.

I am still working on it like I said, but have stopped cause the car is away for the winter. I am going to try and make a jumper for the radio stuff without the ECC stuff while here and see how it comes out. If I get to it, I'll post pictures.
