need some help 200 amp alternator

I strongly suggest you return the alternator and get a MUCH cheaper and proven reliable unit from www.mralternator.com

Several of us run those (including one of my Bonnevilles which has the 160). He doesn't have 200'* listed, but will make and ship them.

I think yours is hosed.

I TESTED THE battery and it was 12 volts. put the positve wire on the outpt wire of the alt and the ng on the body and it read nothing. any ideas?

If your engine was running when you did that, you either didn't connect both the cable and the harness correctly, or the alternator is bad.

The source I listed above uses improved bearing designs for longevity, too. Our #1 failure is toasted bearings that wipe the alt out.
