Alright just bought a new JVC tune player... Also bought all directed sound speakers... when i tried this combo in the store it sounded great.. in my car when i turn it up it sounds horrable and sound like every word is slurring. I tried different speakers and same thing. All my stuff is new. Anyone else have this problem???

does it sound distorted? could be lots of things.. blown voice coil. slightly shortin wires.. did you install it or did they?

One thing I notice about most store setup is with the amount of room and enclosure they have.. speakers never EVER will sound the same in your car as it would in the store..

So lets start with who installed it.. and secondly.. try fading it to each speaker ( i.e Left Front. left right.. right rear.. rear left ).. are they all doing it or just specific speakers

it sounds like the internal amp in your cd player is clipping. You shouldnt turn it up so loud because that can ruin it. I would sugguest buying an amp for your aftermarket speakers.

You're probably running too much bass to the speakers. Either lower it on the EQ or turn off the bass boost etc.

I installed them... New cd player, 5 1/4 and 6x9s. All bought within the last 3 days. I returned the speakers once and they are not the problem. It has to be the radio or wiring somewhere... in the store they dont sound distorded when they are up all the way. Same speakers with same head unit.. but for some reason in my car they sound horrable at half the volume i had them up in the store. They did not have an amp on them either. im stumped??? ground anything like that?? i tried running the speakers directly off the radio too instead of through the harness. same problem occured....

the stock 5 1/4 speakers had a baffle to seal them off from the door panel. Aftermarket speakers do not have this baffle so you will need to put something between the top of the speaker and the door panel to seal it off. You're getting massive distortion because the front of hte speaker is in the same airspace as the back of the speaker, it can't move air that way and sounds like ****. albeit if you take the door panel off again and look at how they're mounted, you'll see a huge gap between the speaker and the door panel.

the 6x9'* should seal themselves to the bracket they mount to... the 5 1/4'* don't have a bracket to mount to though unfortunately.
