My Audio System So Far
Right now it is small. It started out by me just wanting to replace the stock speakers then... we all know what happens. and in the end no $$$ but lots of loud
I have:
Infinity 5022i 5.25'* in the doors http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...22i&i=1085022I
Kenwood 6980ie 6x9'* in the rear deck
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....#productdetail
And an Alpine CDA- 7894 I bought it used off a guy on www.ILGPC.com it works great except it killed my dimmer switch. I really need to run the suggested 10gauge wire straight power line.

I have an amp and subs that i got for free so i am going to throw those in for the time being. I have no clue what they are yet. i am also planing on getting a set of 4x6'* for the dash as these will be blown soon thanks to the new head unit. I am planing on buying a 4 channel amp for the 4x6'* and 5.25'*, a 2 channel amp for the 6x9'* and another 2 channel amp for the subs. But that will be after i get some more money. I kind of spent all i have available to me right now.
I put in a cleaner CD to clean the lense of the headunit. i dont know if these are just a rip off or not but it also has other functions as well. I found out that i flipped the wires on the left 5.25 so right now it has reverse polarity so i got to flip the wires. i did a sweep of the frequency range and man this thing can put out some real highs. I also played the 10sec of dead silence track and discovered theres no static from anything yet.

well the 5.25 inch speakers aren't meant for bass. that'* what the 6x9s or a subwoofer is for. definitely an improvement over stock though, right? i need some new ones.
also, do you race motocross? just a guess from the name.

oh yeah they are alot better than stock. i know they not meant for bass but they had less than i expected. No i dont race motocross. i race "stockcars" at my circle track. here is a vid of one of my teammates winning his first race so you get an idea.

I think we have the same speakers! Do you have those filters for the tweeters and the mids? I've seen mine don't put out bass, but they're so clear! They're very crisp, and every time I listen to them, I think I have a lisp. All in my mind, though. The best thing about those speakers is that you really get to hear the cowbell in every song that has one. If you've got "the fever," you'll find the cure in those!
Very good choices. Do the Kenwood speakers match the Infinity ones in sound quality? The previous owner put Lighting Audio 6x9s in the back of the SLE, and they're far too clean for the rich stock front speakers. Just thought I might ask, but no pressure to change your choices even if you don't have matching sound.

I like the infinitys. but the Kenwoods are wierd they start to get really wierd when i turn up the Alpine head unit. i am going to flip the polarity and see if that makes a difference.

yea sort of out of tune i dont really know how to describe it. they will be playing fine sounding good but when i turn it up the bass gets wierd and distorted and choppy sort of. its hard to explain. Only 1 of my infinitys is out of polarity i got to flip it soon

if one of your infinitys is reversed then the bass from that one is canceling out the bass from the other one. You NEED to have the polarity the same. A component woofer would have less low bass because It is designed as an upper midbass speakers. The orignal 5 1/4s play a bit lower (but distort a LOT faster) because theyre designed to play a wider frequency range. This is just a generality, and when you wire up your infinitys in the same polarity it should make a night and day differance for bass. Try playing with your fader and balance settings to hear each speaker separately.
