Default Mute Button

Just noticed something annoying on the way home...

When I used the mute button on the steering wheel, it only stays muted for a few seconds and then the music comes back on again.

This has happened before, but normally it takes like 5mins before the music comes back on, which I figured was how it worked.

Can anyone shed any insight into this problem?

Push the button down harder next time. Just like your TV remote when the battery is dead.

Which car?

The easier of the two would be to check behind the HU, but it sounds to me like it would be more likely behind the steering wheel....

Try the mute on the HU. Does it do the same? (should be the volume button....push it straight in).

That does turn the radio off.....I don't believe the head deck has a mute on it.
I would think the radio itself would be the issue. The mute button is telling it what
to do...but obviously the radio likes to dis-agree with ya!

IMHO - I think its an internal radio issue.

The buttons on the steering wheel work by a change in power going thru them if i'm not mistaken, and that only occurs when you push them down. If it'* muting it at all, the button is working, but the radio quits muting.
