Hey everyone I'm just looking for suggestions. I came across an eBay buy worth considering.

It'* an MTX enclosure with 3 12" 8000 series subs in it. I heard the boxes are pretty rugged, made of 1" MDF, but haven't heard too much about MTX subs lately. I remember something about them not playing deep bass very well? Anyway the deal is under $400 NIB and I'm on the fence. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

if i rmeber right mtx are part of ESA or Roadmaster, neither are high quality, whats the rms? they might be acceptable for low budget

For the money you can do better then MTX. IMHO.

The sledgehammer box is nothing more than a wedge shaped box. IT works by not redirecting the backwave towards the speaker, but instead letting it hit the back of the box at an angle and get cancelled out. IM not much of a fan of MTX either, maybe if you had an amp with it for that much it would be worth it.

I paid a little less then $400 on a JL Audio 10w7 - which would be alot better sub. I dont really care for MTX but if I had to get one I'd get a 9500. Thake your $400 and get a MTX 9500, you will not be disapointed with it! On ebay a 15" will run you $380, 12" $320, 10" $260. I've heard two cars with these subs in it an they were both crazy. Both had 2 15" MTX 9500'*, one in a Impala and the other in a Grand Prix. I sat down in the Impala and he had a pop sitting in the cup holder next thing he turned it up and the pop bounced all the way into the back seats! At that time I hopped out of the car and told him he was crazy!

yea SOLO squares do the same a L7 of course

try checking out some JL'* or Orion'* , Arc audio, audiobahn,,crossefire if your on a budget

ok MTX has varying lines

road thunder = crap

anything 8000 and above is very very decent..

JL in my eyes is over priced way over priced..

take that 400 bucks and get a Adire Brahma or Resonant Engineering XXX you wont be sorry... Trust me
