Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

I've never seen one of these

Stereo HU> <Vehicle specific wiring harness

It'* wiring harness that goes between the vehicle wiring adaptor and the stereo. Seems thay have one for most of the major brands out there. It saved me about 20 minutes of matching and splicing when installing my ne HU yesterday.

The Sony one is kinda pricey (at Circuit City, anyways, but what ain't), but it allowed me to mount the new HU, including the new adaptor plate, in about10 minutes. Plug that into the back of the stereo, then into the vehicle wiring adaptor, plug in the antennae wire, and you're done.

Only thing slightly disappointing about it was I was hoping to finally use my new soldering iron....

The only real purpose is so you don't have to butcher your cars own harness. Kind of a personal choice really but using the aftermarket harness is nice if you want to put the factory radio back in down the line, not to mention the time savings in installing.
