I think the Bose head unit I have is pretty weak; I'd like to change the whole stereo system, but I want the HU to fit the dimensions of the space without adapting it. It seems like every HU I see is long and thin, and there would be extra space on the top and bottom when installed. :? If anyone knows any manufacturers who make what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate the info.
...and if anyone knows the exact measurements I'm looking for (and any other important info when buying a new HU), or how to find that out, that would be great too...

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/*...=0&cc=01&avf=N
dont buy on crutchfield though...check shopping.yahoo.com...
also best buy and circuit city have the bigger ones but if you change your mind nad go for a "skinny thin one" then you can get a mounting kit that makes it look really good...

Thanks...now I wonder if I can find one that plays MP3 format. The XM capability is cool though; I definately want to hook that up someday.
Any other companies that make them that you know of?

I've tried, but I don't really know what I'm looking for...do I just look for "oversized", or are there certain dimensions I have to look for? And a while ago someone mentioned that there are different "plugs", and that you have to have the right one...how do I know?

Double Din units are huge. The only cars that really have them that I've seen are foreign cars.
Double Din

1.5 Din

single Din

Pioneer headunits are nice. I've never had any problems with them and they are fairly cheap and have a lot of features on them.
