key fob question
i'm planning on doing a remote starter before winter, and i was wondering if a gm key fob from a car with a factory remote starter can be programed to an aftermarket remote start unit, and also be programmed to the door locks.. i just don't want 2 key fobs or going through the hassle of wiring the locks to a aftermarket module.maybe i' just dreaming or maybe its possible

This is probably out of the realm of what we can answer here. I've found the best advice for remote starters at www.the12volt.com .
I had the nusance with the remote start system on our 99 SE and ended up settling for getting the Viper remote to handle the door locking feature.

i talked to gm today, they said they only offer remote start on their newer vehicles, and all it comes with is 2 fobs and instructions to program the pcm, (everything eles is installed on all vehicles from the factory) so the fobs will only work on a newer gm with remote start pre programed into the pcm...so i guess if i want to elimnate 2 fobs, i just have to stop being lazy and wire in the door locks to the aftermarket remote start
