Default Just got some subs..

When looking for subs..i wasn't exactly looking for something overpowering that is going to rattle my car..and the cars right next to me, but i was just lookin for somethin that'* gonnag the job done ..and pound pretty nicely to complement the music..and not drown the music out. I got 2 10" kickers with a box today. Now i need to find an amp and wiring.. Any suggestions???? I found an 800w volvenhagen amp for 109.00$ on a website and that looked like a good deal. Retail for that sucker is 200$. As for the wiring...best buy has 4 guage wiring for 100$ ..while wal-mart claims to have the same stuff for 30$ ..what'* the difference?? i have no damn clue, but i'd like to save some $$. Help a brotha out

Wish I could help you. But I went to Walmart and saw a two 10 inch or so sub box, 700W, for $60 or 70. Seems very low for that kind of power. But I know little about audio right now.

I went to walmart and got my wireing for my car. no problems at all. Im running 2 amps, and the wire seems to do the job. I have never heard of that brand amp before. Im running two 12" Pioneer IMPP'* with a Pioneer 760 watt amp, and it kicks hard. The pioneer amp wasn't that expensive either.

I also have 2 10" Kicker Comps. I am running a Pioneer 800watt with an MtX Cross over. This amp is plenty of power and runs about 170-200 at Best Buy. I love Kicker and hope you do to. These subs will last forever.. Ive had mine for 3 years now and sound like new.

Polk Audio is excellent for sound quality, I have 1 12" Polk sub and an MTX thunder 152 (Bridged) powering it, I am a guitar player and a musician so i enjoy the total "Symphony" sound, not bass that rattles your fillings loose with the ocassional squeak out of the upper frequncies. WIth what i have you can feel the kicker in your back and the hair moves and the rear view mirror vibrates alot, and you can hear it 3 blocks away, i couldnt imagine even adding another sub or more power. The Amp makes a world of difference. People that are putting in 2- 12 subs with 800-1000watt amps are spending too much!!

anyway, thats just my opinion, i am more in to SQ than SPL.

ok let me tell you any subs or anything they sell cept for wire is total crap those systems are absolutely terrable and sound really junky and im sure the amps would drain your battery and barely put out anything but the wireing is pretty good cuz you really cant mess up the wire but jensen crap is crap just to let u know.

Yeah, look around, but from what I know wire is wire and its not going to vary that much.
Not sure about the Volfenhag though, I think its owned by Sony or something. I'm more of an Alpine guy myself but hey whatever floats your boat. Did you get the L7s or Comps?

Here is what I just ordered to upgrade my system from crutchfield. The wiring kit is at the bottom. I went 8 ga, because I plan on adding another amp for the front stage later, 8 ga is more than enough to run that modest power. I had 10ga going to my last amp that ran (2) 12'* and my front stage. I dont need the RCA cables, so I got a kit that didnt have them, and went with a better fuse holder.

Saw what you want about the Bazooka Brand sub, but I heard a few cars with them, they rock. Very tight and accurate, which is what I am into. Plus they take a tiny box.

Quick Reply: Just got some subs..
