You don't mess with the serial data line. All you do is intercept the audio line as it goes from the in dash cd player to the amp, then play a cd but listen to the ipod. I did the same mod on my brother'* 97 s10 which has the serial interface for a trunk changer.

That is not what I am after. I want to listen to my iPod and control it with the head unit and steering wheel controls. Thanks anyway

P.*. I also owe you an apology for my rather terse response (a couple months ago) to a similar post regarding the cassette input. I clearly didn't understand (at the time) how you were implementing your mod. I responded as if you were an idiot so I apologize.

! ! ALRIGHT ! !

I figured out a work-around for the previously mentioned problem with the interference from using the turn signal.

I have bypassed the iPAC-OEM with the analog audio signals and only use it for controlling the iPod with the head unit and steering wheel buttons.

More details will be in my write-up soon:

Didnt all the Bonneville Radios from 96 - 99 have the plugs for a CD Changer ? I just remember from a Trans Am that had a single CD Player (GM Radio) but also the CD Changer connection in the back. Or is that different with the Bonnevilles ?

I am asking cause i am still waiting for my Bonneville to arrrive from the states but beeing so unpatient that i wanna have everything prepared for installing my Ipod in it.
My Bonneville (98 SSE) has the Bose Soundsystem and this Radio

lol. i just got a tape adapter, which goes to my MP3 player ( i set it under that little cover that pops up right behind the shifter.) it sits in there at a perfect angle to switch songs, then i have my charging cable going into the center glovebox thing, where my inverter is sitting (plugged into the rear cigarette lighter) so it never runs out of juice. if i am leaving the car somewhere for a while, i set the cover back on to hide the MP3 player and all you can see is the tape adapter wire sticking out.
took me 5 minutes to hook up.

props on your setup though!

The Ipac-OEM or another similar device is required to use the serial CD Changer plug as an aux input.

The cheapest way to get your ipod into the headunit is to splice into the audio signal wires going from the cd player to the amplifier, all within the headunit. This provides crystal clear sound as opposed to FM modulators and tape converters which have horrible SQ. Devices that hook into the cd changer plug all cost at least $100 i believe.

I am posting this for 2000+ Bonnevilles ONLY. Earlier models are different and I don't know about them.

Thanxs but i am not good in working in the radio itself. So i guess i have 2 wait and see it my Stereo has a CD Changer outlet. But if not i guess i have 2 buy a Pontiac Radio with Tape and CD Changer Outlet. But will those fit with the Bose System i have or are the Bose System Stereos different from the regular ones ?
