Default Install of Pioneer AVIC nav unit in 2000 SSEI

I will shortly be installing a Pioneer AVIC Z1 HU in my 2000 SSEI. Already have the Metra GMOS - 09 and 40 -VW10 harness and adapter.

Trying to get as close to a factory look as possible.

Is there any advice or watch outs from members that have done similar installs?

Also, the screen color has a blueish background and I am trying to determine if it will look too much out of place with the factory dash lights.

I am new to the forum and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

the problems I had installing an aftermarket system is that the dash is not very deep, i had to cut out the back plastic part to free the ribbon connector and antenna wire and had to stuff wires in the gap between the key cylinder and the hole

you can't cut the harness because it is a ribbon style one, and cutting the harness is a very bad idea on any car because then you have a mess of wires and can't go back to stock

plus you need a specialized harness if you still want the chimes and RAP as well as normal power to work good
