Default information time - new speaker

so i blew my speaker yesterday, apparently [by apparently i mean, i know].

rear driver'* side speaker.

so tell me about speakers [yes i know some stuff, but pretend i dont]. educate me. what speakers are good? what speakers are cheap?

no need to bother with installation, i know that fun stuff. time frame = when i get money. which will be in quite awhile. but no need to delay taking in information.

My personaly choice, if I were pressed for money, would be Pioneer. Very affordable, very good speakers.

Alpine always seems to sound good to me, but pioneer would be the economical choice. If you wanna throw some $$ into it, i love the sound of Boston Acoustics. IMO sony isnt worth the money.

I can tell you to stay away from Sony...they flat out suck.

I saw somewhere on the forum that Lightning Audio (Walmart speakers) are Fosgates in disguise, and sound great for the cost. I am running Infinity Ref. myself, and they sound GOOD but need power to make them sound good

Infinity or JBL both made by Harmon Kardon are Excellent, high end & pricey.

Pioneer are great for the price. The tweeters are nice and clear compared to anything else in their price range.

My advice go to some stereo shops and listen to different brands and see what sounds good to you.

Not high end........lol
At $400 a pair and up, I would call that the higher end.
Harmon & Kardon is known for the quality of their speakers.

I Install and sell for a living and my hearing is above average, no joke.
I've heard almost every major brand of speaker over the years.

Show me a Car Audio speaker that sounds as crystal clear as the Infinity Kappa Perfect components or the JBL Power series.
There is a reason they are called "Perfect".....they have won awards for this tweeter at CEMA or CES (can't remember).

IMO: Best sounding (mid range & tweets) speakers I've heard in car audio
Anything more pricey is a waste of money and doesn't sound even close.
