First off. I dont know jack about car audio.
I would like to keep my stock radio and speakers, and would like a little more bass.
Im not looking for the loudest subs out there and was looking at the Infinity basslink'*

its clean and a nice setup. its nice because the amp matches the subwoofer and its all in one. You will get really nice clean sound out of it, and definately worth the money if you want deeper fill and some bump in your trunk. a little tip on installing these is play around with it and move it around the trunk to get the best sound, sometimes with these little subwoofers you can find the perfect spot and they will sound a lot better than the first place you hook it up. You can also tap directly off of the speaker wires because it has a high input, which would be perfect for your application. Any more questions about it I can help you out (bought one for my Dad as a christmas present and he said that it was the most useful gift he ever got because it made all the difference when listening to music and plus he already had nice speakers just not bass) hope this helped you out some

Is it bass-y, or pretty mild?

It hits pretty well and hits lower notes pretty well if you adjust the gains and everything, also its good at midbass too since it is a 10" subwoofer, also they have the skinny setup with 2 resonators, and they just came out with the square basslink, so you have lots of options to pick from if you want a basslink.

I have been thinking about this too but I guess I don't understand the high level input thing. does this mean I am going to lose my back speakers? how would I go about wiring this in?

On 92-99'* with gain, could this hook up to the gain wires that go to the speakers so that the gain slider could adjust the bass?

The high level input is as easy as taking the output to the rear speakers and splitting it. so now you have 2 positive and 2 negative for each speaker. Run one of each back to the speaker and the other one to the basslink.


JDB: assuming that the gain slider actually changes the audio signal and not the amount of voltage/wattage going to the speaker, yes the gain would be able to control the bass.
