Hi All,

I know some of you have hooked up a Basslink in a newer '00+ car. Did you use a remote turn-on lead or did you just use the auto turn on? I know Custom88 had mentioned that he had some issues with using the auto turn on.

I'm going to be ordering one soon and wanted to figure out what people did. Beyond that, the wiring should be a piece of cake with the battery under the seat.

The problem I had with the auto-turn on feature was that the Basslink was turning on when the stereo wasn't on. Any data link communication throughout the vehicle would cause the basslink to turn on. Something as simple as unlocking the doors, or turning on the interior lights would cause it to turn on! I attritube it to the radio being a part of the data-bus system and a small ammount of voltage being carried over to the speakers. You could always run a remote turn-on to somewhere in the car though, such as the cigarette lighter, or the ignition switch. The auto-on feature can be used, I just didn't know if it would lead to premature wear from being turned on all the time by all the other systems in the car.

Actually..isn't your door chime sent through the speakers? That chime probably occurs each time you lock/unlock the doors. That might wreak a little havoc. Chris... send Gumby a pm and ask him. I don't think he frequents this section.

received a link this morning, Mine is auto on as well. and takes around 5 minutes or so to turn off.

Thanks Guys! Well, I guess I could give 'Auto' a shot and see what happens...worse comes to worse I just find a remote lead and go from there.
