Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

15'* opposed to 12'* oppesed to 10'*

15'* the are typically not the most choosen to go with because then work better on bigger cabins rather than a trunk so what you get is more distortion sound slopper

12'* are the most choosn size because of there tight bass response

i perfer 12' over anything

ok speaker size has nothing to do with distortion-nothing period. mine sound great they sound warm and accurate even on rock and roll, as far as cabin size goes, in general the smaller the car, the less speaker size u need to fill it up with sound. take for example if u put a ten in a blazer, it wouldnt get loud at all, however if u took that same setup and maybe put it in a mazda miata, it would probly get 3 times louder. and yes a lot of 15s do require big boxes and mine are no exeption, but not all of them, its just a matter of how much ur willing to spend on them

Bottom line, size doesn't matter, 10'* can hit just as low, 15'* can be just as good. but each of those examples can be hard to find. Listen to woofers, price them out, and check their power ratings for your amp budget.

yeah before my car was stolen, I had 2 10'* that I thought hit really hard. the only problem was that my trunk rattled like a miracca (or how ever you spell it) so I lost alot of power because of that. i think BonneMeMN got my biggest problem squared away. If im gonna get 15'*, they will of course require more amp power to get the best possible sound out of them, and you know what that means... more wattage= more money. this is one definite problem I can see with 15'*...

SIZE DOES MATTER CHECK OUT THE LINK READ CAREFULLY MISTER KNOW IT ALL!!!!

http://products.consumerguide.com/cp...x.cfm/id/11397

However, a driver that is too large might take too long to react to the demands of music--they donít have an accurate transient response. which basicly means more distortion issues and less effecient

if you look at most ISCA competors the 9 times out of 10 they dont go with 15'*? answer that for me? "most" not all go with something smaller

Any properly designed 12" woofer can go lower then you can hear, and feel. People always talk about woofers in sizes, oh yeah i got 2 12'*.... Doesn't mean anything to me. Infact it just means i think less of what you got now. Different woofer designs work on different diameters, and yes there is a reason many people don't run 15'*, and there'* a reason that many people just run one woofer. IMHO 15'* do not have the SQ for me. I consider myself an audiophile, my home gear is untouched by ANY car audio install, and I like it that way. Car-fi is just a thing to play with.
