Getting ready for my stereo install. Really my second install into a trunk car. My last was my old grand am daily and it destroyed the rear 6x9s running the subs.
In the bonnie i can drop the arm rest...is that going to be enough to keep from standing the 6x9s out and ruining them?
i only use the 6x9s for rear fill anyway...but i do want to retain them.
suggestions?

i am only running a old school solobaric 15 on 750watt rms d class amp.
i ran same setup in my old car and the rear 6x9s were ruined after i took sub out and listened to them....i mean , they have sound..but no bass at all anymore...
i just didn't want to ruin a new set of 6x9s doing same thing.

grand am was rocking stockers in rear at the time..it was a quick daily driver sub install system
in my bonnie, i am using same sub setup and amp, but with aftermarket 6X9s on amp as well

if you underpowering the rear speakers they will blow.
the RMS rating of the 6x9s should match to the amp you are using to drive them. If you are driving them with a head unit (22w/rms/ per speaker tops) then you run the risk of blowing them since they will clip past about 1/2 volume or so which will cause them to heat up and such, warping the voice coils causing the "blown" effect you may be experiencing.
