i hooked up my sub and amp a couple months ago and a couple weeks ago it quit. i hav a coustic sub and a dub amp. i checked all the wiring and it seems to be fine. they r also no blown fuses. the amp still turned on and i smelt the amp and sub to c if it was burnt and i couldn't smell anything. please help asap. thanx

did you blow the sub? my amp will cut the power to make sure not to cause anymore damage

do you or your buddies have any other amps or speakers to test yours by process of elimination?

how do i get the power back to the sub if the amp kicked out. buddy of mine said that the sub should still work if was blown. i don't think either is blown. i wasn't even over powering the sub and the song i was playin had barely any bass.

Did you set your gains properly on the amplifier? Is your head unit output correctly turned on and providing the right output. Are all crossovers set accordingly?

Wiring wise you need power and ground going into the amp, and a remote turn on lead. You need a signal through RCA'* as well. Make sure all 4 of these wires are good on both ends

Also make sure your signal wire between amp and sub are on connected properly.

Make sure your subwoofer output is on if you have it.
Make sure all crossovers are off on the head unit and the amp
play a cd with bass

You could have a bad ground. Does the amp have a power indicator to let you know theres power going to it?

Also check the fuse on the power wire to the amp. You should have an inline fuse no more than 12 inches fromt the battery on the power wire.

Lastly if a sub was blown, the most you would get is crackling, no sound since the voice coils are the things that go when subs blow.

:o check to see if its bridged or not. make sure you have the right connections going from amp, to the speaker connection, to the sub in the box. if you have all that going right check the ohm resistance that the amp can handle. check the speaker resistance too. if they both are working with each other test the amp out on a diff speaker or sub that you know works. test the sub out ona home theater or diff amp. after that if u own a multimeter check out to see if you have power coming from the speaker outputs on the amp. let me know.

yep my amp led turns on, and my wires r ok. wat is a crossover and wat does it do? i'm sorta new to this stereo stuff. this is my first sub and amp.

pretty sure a crossover just controls the frequency that the amp is putting out. does your sub work on a diff system

tried it when i first got the sub but not since it quit.
