Default help the newbie

allright so im taking the plunge into car audio, i started with a new head unit because i was tired of the ghetto setup i have now....heres the one i bought just in case anyone is interested...i know its not the new hotness or anything..but itll do...http://www.cardomain.com/item/JENCD3720

it hasnt arrived yet, but i went ahead and peeled off the dash trim and took the stock head out just to have a look around...i saw the one large molex connector which im assuming plugs into the wiring harness i ordered...simple enough...NOW there is also a larger black wire which seems to be built in to the stock head...if i were a betting man i would say that maybe its a power wire of some sort? what is this wire and where does the other end of it emerge? also if it is a power wire how will my new one get power?

remember...im new..be gentle

that would make sense as well, but it didnt really look like it comes off? or maybe i just didnt look hard enough, i kinda just took a quick glance at things and then put the radio back in, the trim is still off and is laying in the front seat, i wont be driving her for a couple days, and im not trying to impress anyone, so i just didnt bother putting it back together....also how you get to the speakers in the front door? does the whole panel have to come off? if so how? id like to replace them one day...cause they suck...i can tolerate the back ones as is, and theyll be even better with an aftermarket unit....or so im told...but the front ones are crappy...what size are they anyway?

there should be 3 things that plug into the back of the headunit. One is the main harness one is the steering wheel controls and the last one is the antenna. The antenna leas is round and black

yes you need to remove the door panels to get the speakers out. i can have mine off in under 2 minutes. the speakers are 5.25 components, and your back ones are 6x9'*

BTW you will need an antenna adapter to go from the antenna to the new headunit
