Not a bad looking install for a 17 year old



And now I'm pondering what to do with my old radio. Its an xAct visor about a year old. But the thing that stuck it on the dash or windshield was broken a time ago and I had to velcro the radio so It wouldn't fall off. Does it have any value?

SInce everyone is critiquing the radio install,I'll do the antenna. Get some trim tape from your local parts store and mount the antenna at the bottom of the back glass and centered on the 3rd brake light

yeah I like it there better... when i had a xm reciever, i put the antenna there as well, but now with my sirius in my deck, i have it on the roof... I love how sirius advises you against putting it on the trunk unless its a convertable, worked fine for me

Same here on the trunk part, Works just as fine as the roof.

If you wanted to keep in the original location below the review mirror you could, I've installed them there many times before.
The trick is to tuck your wires above the Headliner and run them down the A pillar.
You can buy a female cig lighter plug (the same as the one in the dash) from a parts store and connect your power adapter to it and have everything hidden in the A pillar. Connect your cig lighter adapter to the accessory wire in the ignition harness (brown wire I believe & fuse for 10 amps with fuse holder) and the other wire to ground that way you don't have to cut or extend the cig lighter power cord.
If you use this method just make sure that you use lots of electrical tape to keep the conneciton tight between the plug and the cig lighter.

Although, is there a thing I can put the radio car power adapter in and then extend it so I can run it through and put it in the cig lighter in the back?

Basically saying is there a Cig lighter extension cord?

When mounting a sat antenna, usually the rule of thumb is to mount it directly over the rearview mirror and route the wiring by the windshield molding and down the a-pillar.

Once you have one, you can extend the wires on the socket and hide it in the A pillar or were ever your power cord will reach. You need the above part plus a ATC fuse holder & a 10 Amp fuse.
This way you can mount your Sat Radio in what ever location you want without having to cut the Cig lighter power adapter that came with the unit and extending it.
This also keeps the manufacturer warranty valid because your not butchering the power adapter.
