Default Good Head unit

Ok Audio experts, I need help deciding on a head unit for my 92. Heres the thing, I would like something that lights up red to match, plays mp3 cd'* and, this is a big and...... Is not real bright, I hate allot of light at night when I drive, I like the gauges so dim that you can barely see them, so some bright non dimming light show display wont work for me. Any input you guys/gals have would be great, I don't know much about car audio.......

Thanks,
Chris

the biggest hurdle will be getting something that lights up red, your best bet for a red display would be Sony, however, i do not like Sony car audio, so i can not honestly recommend them. My eclipse matches well, but its certainly pricey.
Look for something that has a display that you can change the color. There are quite a few options available going that route

Price really doesn't matter, as long as it isn't 800 dollars, and it has the features I want....

The Kenwood 790 has 2 button colors, Red and Green. The rest of the text on the display can be set to Red, White, or Blue, you get to choose which line is which color. You can set them all to red, which will be really dim at night, as the unit dims the display when you turn your lights on (gotta hook up the dimmer wire). But, being red is hard to read in the daytime.

I dim my dash lights, too, and with the head unit set to dim with lights on, it'* not that bright at night. When my lights are off, the display gets quite a bit brighter for daytime.

And you can get the KRC-X790 for about $225'ish new from various eBay stores. Or about $379 on Crutchfield, if you need someone to hold your hand...
