The XTC baffles came in today! I am really excited since not only have I learned that the baffles will hush up the bass, but they're also squishy! I can reshape them into anything I want! Observe this picture of me wearing a 6×9 baffle:

Here are some pictures of my 5.25 baffles and a speaker in one:

Yes, I was hoping this thread would lead to that, but this is so much cooler. Plus, now that it'* been said the bass will be lessened, I'm ecstatic!

so you wanted less bass......?

if you have an amp oyu could have just tuned it down to those speakers.

or just turned it down all together with the head unit........?

but as long as your happy thats all that matters then

I need to bring up maybe one more thing about the speaker baffles, but first JayGXP:

I don't think the door panels were constructed very well. They're really lacking, and they just hold the speakers in one place with no regard for acoustics. Before, when the speakers put out bass freely with no amp except the head unit, both generations of door panels from 94 and 98 shook. Not only that, they didn't reverberate with any positive effect. They just kind of vibrated off-key. That, and they shot out window and lock controls.

I have already all three amps, one per two speakers. Hopefully with the baffles, I'll be able to tune the speakers really nicely. Also, I have the door panels out of my car at the moment, so I'll put the speakers and baffles in those and try them out.

And now, to the other speaker baffle question: I noticed the baffles just came as pictured, and they don't have any speaker wire holes. Is it a good idea to puncture tiny holes and put in rubber grommets?

i dont think one little hole is going to make a difference you could just use hot glue once you got the wire in place

Wow, I didn't think of that! Cool. Unless the baffles explode, I think I've solved my problem. Thank you guys very much!

to me anything smaller then a 12'' should not be made to push air.. imo...

door speakers and rear deck speakers should only be for mids & highs...

but thats just me.. an dthats why i have 4 amps a x-over and 2 eq'*.
