Default Eclipse CD4000 HU

I'm thinking about my future HU purchase. I have such a mix of audio manufacturers right now, I figured I'd go with an Eclipse HU to match the speakers. I found this one on Crutchfield, has 5 different button colors (I'm sure red is one of them), and seems good. Any thoughts? http://www.crutchfield.com/*-xTb754T...99CD4000&wm=su $350 is the absolute highest I'm willing to spend. Even that is a bit too much.

It has a built-in amp as well. Though I can send more power to my speakers than that amp allows, if I get an external 4 channel, I would only need a conservative one right?

My speakers are Eclipse SP5000 (50W RMS - 150max) and SP8994 6x9 (85W RMS - 170max). With those specs, what amp would suffice? Or would the HU be fine?

If I'm right, and I'm probably not, the internal amp (50Wx4) in the HU would pump enough power to the two 5 1/4s, and a little less to the 6x9s?

pete, go to circuit city and try it out for yourself. The display on the 4000 isnt very appealing to me.. i cant describe it, but i hate how the display looks. My CD8445 has a completely different display and i love it, but that 4000 is a totally different story. Other than the display, Eclipse makes some of the best headunits out there id hit it, you wont be disappointed by the performance

Eclipse is one of the few Head unit manufacturers i would recomend for anyone interested in top sound quality. I chose my alpine over the Eclipses because for iPod integration, it was the best among the "SQ" units i was looking at, and was at a great price.

Is yours the very expensive one? From the pics I can say I'm not a huge fan of the display on the 4000 either :( But I think I'd like an Eclipse HU. My speakers are meant to be very clean and crisp, and I figured their HU'* must be just as good. I'll have to check out some stores. If Curcuit City has them great, there'* one close to me.

I know the HU will make the speakers sound SICK, so I may not bother with an amp.

EDIT: I just found the CD8445 on sale online for $359, less than the CD4000!

Jason, top sound quality is what I am going for too.

yes the 8445 when it was NEW a little over a year ago retailed for $600, and now they are rather easily available for the 35-400 range. Its 100x better than the 4000 series too

i would absolutely tell you to hit that 8445 for the price, i LOVE mine, and i dont even use half of the available features, its remarkable versitile, and SQ is second to none!
