I am posting this to show some differences I found between two Bose CD/Cassette radios.
My situation:
Original radio in my '00 had electrical problem – station pre-sets don’t work.
Bought a radio from a member who totaled his car (’02 ?). Faceplate was heavily scratched & dinged and a cd was lodged in the player.
Swapped faceplates & installed radio. Found that CD in new radio skips a lot.
Tried to swap the CD player with original radio but found that harness and mounting are not the same.
Here are pictures

There are 2 CD connectors side-by-side on the '02 radio with a total of 20 wires. The '00 has one connector with 15 wires. There are also differences in several other components on main board.

The '00 CD has one 15 wire connector. The '02 CD has a 6 wire connector and a 14 wire connector.

The '00 CD is held in with 4 screws (2 in front & 2 in back). The '02 radio has 2 additional screws on the side (6 total). It looks like mounting might interchange if you leave out the side screws.

The faceplates are interchangable.
The Cassettes appear to be interchangable
The CD'* are NOT interchangable
The top & bottom snap on access covers on the '00 are glued in place. The '02 ones did not have any glue.
The '02 radio has slightly better sound quality.
The '02 CD operation doesn't feel to be as refined as the '00. The way the cd ejects and sucks in on the '00 is more smooth & graceful (if that makes any sense).
