does anyone have any suggestions for a good, but cheap decible meter, i bought one from radio shack but it only tops out at 125db and my system maxed it out. thanks in advanced

Search for an Audiocontrol EPIC-160. Probably the most 'reasonably priced' meter that will do over 130dB. Unfortunately, it still isn't cheap. Otherwise, check at a few local shops. Many should have an Audiocontrol or Termlab meter to test with for a small fee.

Make sure you're placing it in the correct metering area as well..
