Default Dash trim removal with bass boost slide control

:?: I need to replace the factory stereo in my 92 SSE but how do I remove the dash panel without damaging the (bass boost) slider? I know the dash panel is delicate and it seems that there may be some trick to removal with the slider. It'* very tight in that area and I'm hesitant to just pull it, I don't want to break it. Anyone out there removed one before?
Thanks.

There is some slack in the wires so that you don't break them. Detach the trim plate completely, then look behind the control. In the middle bottom you have to push up on the little piece that latches the wiring harness to the control. Push up on it and detach the wires.
