My Cyberwhite fogs keep burning out. Lately it seems like I have to replace a bulb every couple months or so. The wires get taped up really well, so nothing is messing with them. They are using the stock wiring, which isn't recommended, but many people get away with using it with no issues.

The replacement bulbs I typically use are from Sylvania - H3 55w

I just had to replace a whole lamp, because a rock hit one of them and cracked it. That had the original bulb in it, and that is what burnt out. However, I still have the good H3 bulbs burn out more frequently than they should.

I only run them when it'* dark out too, so it'* not like they are on all day long.

Possible causes-

-The last time the bulbs were replaced, air tools were used to tighten down the lamps

thats the most likely problem, vibration will kill bulbs faster.

The largest killer of most bulbs is a finger print or any oils at all on the glass. This area heats up more and the heat burns out the bulb.

You might try wiping the bulbs with alcohol (found at most BC'rs houses) before installing as a precautionary measure.

lets keep in mind that he is not refering to the most common kind of alcohol at a BCers house... dont try wiping them down with a Lager......

I agree with the above two, most likely issues will be either finger prints or vibration

You're not alone, Sol. I can not keep my driver'* side light working. Evrything from burnt out bulbs, cracked lenses, bad wiring on my part....

As much as I prefer the look of the SE style, I hate having to crawl under that freakin corner to figure out what'* wrong....
