Default cd player has e20 message

My 96 sse cd player has died. How do you remove the radio to inspect it? Thanks!

E20 : Focus Error Cause(*): The CD player cannot focus on the disc or there is an internal focus problem. Correction(*): Try cleaning the disc or using a new disc. Make sure the disc is loaded correctly. The road could be too rough or there is too much humidity. If the problem is not corrected, service the unit at an ACDelco® Service Center.

I had that problem in my old Bonneville. It would only do it with certain CD'*, usually burned ones.

Does your cd player work at all?

Default e-20 error

Thank you for your reply. No cd'* will play, hot or cold, I tried several different and none would work. I will try to clean it first. How do you get the plastic panel off? I couldnt find any fasteners and I didnt want to rip it out. Thanks again! Kevin

it is just held on with plastic clips.. just grap it in a thick area [like above the a/c controls] and pull, but if it has a lot of resistance.. then you may be doing it wrong.
