so, if you think you need new 6x9s, think about this: Do you plan on getting subs in the near future? If you are, i would completely ignore the rear speakers, unless you care how good it sounds in the back seat.

As for speakers are concerned... If you like good highs, but not piercing highs i woudl recommend an MB Quart component set up. They are great speakers and i THINK that they might have the sound characteristics your looking for.

Have you had a chance to go out and listen to a good variety of products? did you find anything of interest?

And about the amps, if you can wire a sub amp, you can wire a 4-channel

Sorry this has taken so long.

I agreee with toasty, if you are thinking of getting subs, dont worry about upgrading the rear speakers. Most people either remove them completely or leave the stock ones in, powered by the HU. This way they are not overpowering and the "stage" is still in front of you, which is where it is supposed to be.

If you can run wire to the truck, then you more than likely have the brains to wire the amp correctly. And we are here for confirmation.

I sent you a PM with the CDT prices.

MB quart makes some really nice speakers too. But now that you will be able to see the CDT prices, you will have to make your own decision as to what to go with. Just make sure you stay away from any metal tweeters, silk ones will be softer and less piercing.

This week for me is a little less full, so feel free to hit me up to chat. (or PM me)

I've never researched 6x9'*, but if you get a decent pair and make boxes for them, you can get very nice bass out of a set of 6x9'*. Although boxes are more work and most will have pretty good bass anyways.

I picked up these guys on a whim to replace a blown rear:

I've actually gotten to love them so much that I went ahead and bought the matching fronts. I bought the 6.75" ones, here'* a link to the 6.5" ones since it sounded more like what your interested in:

Aside from me liking them, the reviews on crutchfield are good and they can be had for a decent price as well!

Try to find a silk dome tweeter if you like smoother highs. Some metal ones can be damn good, but a lot of car audio ones are made for SPL in mind...

Focal makes some damn smooth speakers as well, but pricey..
