why would another optima battery not provide the same thing? it seems to me like you would have more in "reserve" with a second battery. so my lights will still dim with a second battery?

I've never used a second battery I have only used caps so I don't really know if you lights will still dim with a second battery. A cap has always done the job for me so I never went through the "job" of installing a second battery. One thing the second battery will give you is a longer run time when the car is turned off. A Cap is only for quick charge and discharge.

so that is the diffence. the battery takes longer to charge. i understand that the battery will make it run longer withthe engine off. but i did not know that a cap charged faster than a battery. i know that they would help a dimming situation but i thought it was just another power reserve. basicaly another battery.

It is basically there to give you that quick power boost when hitting a bass note.

Get the second battery and 5 farad CAP by almna pro man, If my Alt hasn't died yet, your'* shouldn't, I am counting the days though, but Like I keep saying Voltage is almost always 14.7. Zero light diming.

For those that don't know, we have same amps and simiular setup on the rest.
