Having the cones face out, so you see them moving, as opposed to the magnets, creates cleaner sound waves. The waves aren't bouncing off a spider, and the magnets.

i dont have an amp, but im gona buy a 900watt rockford amp.
I'd definetly buy your amp to match your subs..

well i dont have anything yet. but this is the setup i was looking at in best buy. they were dual 10'* in a bandpass box. fo rlik e $140 and the rockford amp was $140. so i thought it sounded nice, but i still wanted to ask, ya know? i mean, would that amp get good sq out of those subs? and this company... dual... ive never heard of them. any good? honestly, whgat should i do here. i spent alot on my highs, and they sound nice, i dont want my subs to ruin my sound.

I'd avoid best buy as much as possible Rockford amps aren't the overachievers they used to be back in the day, but they're good for stoers like best buy and such.

I'd say figure out what subs you like, then choose your enclosure and amp accordingly.

here are the advantages of each type of box

CLOSED BOX
simple to build
cut off slope is more gradual
best for small boxes
doesnt unload driver at lowest freaquencies
age has less of an effect on speaker
better upper bass

PORTED BOX
greater bass range for speaker
not as much distortion near the box'* resonant freaquency
reduced preasure box effect
extends bass response of single speaker setups

if u go rockford go rockford fosgate power....not punch....power is high end and is more power efficent...punch is lower end cheaper but you get what you pay for. power is harder to find but it is well worth the money.

ok so i decided against the bandpass box. i went back to best buy and played around with everything. im gonna buy my friends kenwood twelves. they are decent subs i had the same ones in my truck. now as for an amp. those 12s are both 750W each. so of no rockford, what would power them decently?

first off that sounds more like the subs peak rating. Ignore that number and go for thier rms power rating. find an amp with around the same rms power rating and go with it

now that i did not know... hmm, see im new at this stuff, but i love it! haha. only problem with 12'* is that im worred about how much rattling is going to go on. any ideas to stop that? dynamat is horribly expensive.
