Ok i'll try to lay this out..what i wana so is be able to switch between my dvd player and my subs on my cd deck so the dvd can be played through it.

so what i was thinking (as in can i do this and it will work?)
Get a box to switch between the 2. one that has the set up for 2 of the av jacks (red and white plugs) and then just have one line going from that to the back of the deck.
will this result in letting the dvd player play though the car speakers? and let the sub be on when i switch it for that?
or does it not work that way? or if i switch to aux(i think my deck has that my old one did) will it take the sound in...where as for the subs it plays it out...

the best idea would try to run the dvd through the input or aux in your headunit. I am a little confused by why you would need to choose between a subwoofer output and a dvd player (which should be an input into the headunit). Maybe I just dont understand the way you worded it but it seems that if you want to have subs and dvd player running at the same time just go into the aux or input of your headunit (and if you do not have a line in you can always do a fm modulator)

Actually i have never done anything like this...so that above was like me thinking aloud . see the dvd player is a portable one that has the red/white audio/video jack out...so how do i hook that to the deck? what is the input? a wire? cuz all i have is the wires i did for the harness and then the 2 colored(r/w) ports i have the sub hooked into

Well, To connect the DVD player to your car'* stereo you need to have an input, which normally will be an RCA connection. The subwoofer would be connected to an output (sub specific or line level). If there is no available inputs, your alternatives would be an FM transmitter (poor quality) or a inline antenna connection (moderate quality), both of which would use your radio to "tune in" your player.
