How are you trying to hook this up?

Also there is a Retained accessory wire to the sunroof which I see you don't have...( The Wires will be there behind the passenger side pillar )..

And then it depends on what car the Mirror came out of... Some of them have wires that are all black... Other have Green, Pink, Brown , Black......

Let us know what colors you have.. we may have to go by the Pins as opposed to wire color...

also keep in mind if you make one mistake the mirror will be fried( don't ask me how I know that )

Just trying to hook it up so it works dosesnt matter how

By side pillar do you mean the one against the windshield or the one between the doors?

Not sure what it came out of.. JimmyFloyd any idea

But Mine has 2 pinks a gray and a green...

I'm going to guess that we are going to have to know what it came out of...

There should be a Pink and a Pink Black...

I am talking about the ' A " Pillar, yes that would be the one at the windshield... the should be a blank set of wires behind it... One will be Positive and the other Ground.. Hooking it up there will give you ignition on, and the mirror will be on with the retained accessory, and shut off as soon as you open a door..

It does sound as if you have the same wiring as mine on the mirror...

so you have a total of 5 wires, correct?

Is this just an Auto Dim, or does it have the Compass as well?

either one of these mirrors will require the use of 2 wires to be functional...

Drop me a PM, and later I will dig up my extra harness and look at the wiring schematics for you...

5 wires correct.. and yes it is a compass too.. and auto dim. I should of mentioned that..

and about the wires in the a pillar well there are none there..

When I ran wires for my underbodies I ran the wires up that pillar to my switch next to the fog lights. and there was no other wires behind that pillar....

sending pm..... Thanks Nick

Hmm..my mirror I've been searching for the wiring schematic for has the SAME pink/pink-black you are talking about, so, which two wires go to which two wires in the pillar? With that info I am good to go.

PMed you this, but here is what I got from the cadillac forum when I asked.

Quote:
This should do it:
Pin1 (closest to mounting stem) - 12Vdc ignition
Pin2 - ground
Pin3 - 12Vdc when in reverse ( clears mirror if it'* dimming) you don't really need to connect this one.
Pin4 - output to outside mirror dimming
Pin5 - output to outside mirror dimming

Pins 4&5 are used for outside dimming mirrors if equiped. 12v to pins 4&5 (furthest from mounting stem) will destroy the mirror. You only need pins 1 & 2 for most retrofits.

Thanks for the help. That'll help me out. Now I just need to find my missing wires or run my own

That might be because you got a mirror out of another car. and the wires are differ... Do you know what kind of car yours came out of?

Not quite sure, Geoff sold it to me, out of a cadillac. What colors are your first two wires closest to the middle mount?

And does that mean the pins 1 & 2 being the necessary hookup apply to me also, I certainly don't want to be wiring in the wrong wires and ruin my new condition mirror, this is far too much of a beauty to ruin.... Can someone clarify which wires I need to hook up for sure?
