I feel like if i go with ported it has to be all or nothing, im on a budget of only about 120 bucks and if i buy the wrong ported box and it sounds horrible i dont know if i can send it back. With sealed i feel like the cubic feet could be a little off and still sound decent.

if ya build your own it would be cheaper and plus learning a sheet of MDF around 30 depends where, a bottle of tightbond 4-5 bucks, a box of screws, 5 or so, carpeting 10 bucks at walmart and spary adhesive for the carpet. id estimate between 50-65 bucks to build your own and im sure we can help ya through it. otherwise if sealed is more of what your thinking it will use less space compaired to ported but would need to use less space. you can mess with the box you have now by putting 2x4s in it to fill in the extra space. not sure excatly how much n that but i have heard people doing that for sure to make the internal space smaller

I dont know, i wouldnt wanna put you through the trouble of havin to make me one. And since i have the money right now which i dont think i will in the future i gotta get it done. Im about ready to say screw it and just get a sealed box so i can stop racking my brain tryin to figure out port tuning and size and what not. Im just worried because in the type rs manual it says that in a sealed box the frequency is 51 hz which sounds worthless, and if i get the wrong ported box itl sound even worse. The main reason i wanted a ported box is because the bonny is a big car and i wanted to get as loud as possible to compensate for that. But then i look at my buddys bonneville and he has 2 12 inch P3s hooked up 1ohm to a p1000, in a sealed box and its RIDICULOUS. And my amp is rated higher than the p1000 but mines not 1 ohm stable, i got 1200 CEA certified watts going to those things and nothing to show for it but some rattling, i hope that it is just the box.

That'* the beauty of using tools that are available to you everywhere, like the RE calculator I posted and the downloadable one that was posted earlier. It does all the work for you, and even tells you exactly which parts to put where. I tuned my box to 31 hz, which is just slightly above the free air resonance specs for this box. Its all a matter of messing with the numbers in the calculators and knowing the specs for your sub. A bigger box will need more power to sound good, so keep it within the limitations of what'* recommended for your subs and you'd be set.

Look at it this way. Worst case, you build two boxes if you screw up the first, and you're still under budget.

@Cracker: LMAO at the bass shaking your baby carriers in the back seat!

Bonny99: It'* personal preference I guess, but a well-designed ported box is worth every penny.

Alright forget it, im gettin the audio enhancers. I just hope 40 hz will sound good, they say they have a 100% money back guarantee if your not satisfied with how it sounds.

I have had two different pairs of type r'*, I put both in ported boxes, both bought from best buy, just standard 1 cubic ft. per chamber and it sounded amazing. but if your into rock you may want to get the box in a sealed version.
