Nice ...i just got an alpine unit too....mine plays the mp3s and stuff...i can't change the colors either....oh well....and also is that a 94 like your sig says....cuz 70,000 miles on a 94 is amazingly low.

James

EDIT:I SEEN THE REST OF YOU SIG....LOL 74,XXX miles

That is still awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again thanks for the compliments.

I am still loving it, but now I have a question, so I guess I will put it in here.

When I have it up loud, on hard bass hits, the lights on the HU briefly dim. If/when I get an amp, will the small capacitor in there eliminate this? Or is it just that the alternator isn't putting out enough juice?

The power wiresgoing to your head unit are too small. theres a previous thread about this. The way to get rid of it is to run a larger seperate power wire to your head unit directly from your battery. It could also be that the internal power supply isn't strong enough to power the speakers during bass hits, and the face plate at the same time...

Alpine is about one of the best head units on the market. You pay for what you get and w/Alpine you are paying for quality. They can get VERY pricey! So buy what you feel you need. It will last you for many years. I love mine ! Good luck!

I do remember that thread. I will have to dig it up. Getting a lower gauge (thicker) wire sounds like a kinda big undertaking.

I am not real good with auto wiring, so maybe now I can learn. Point me in the right direction

It can't be as easy as getting a high quality bigger wire from the battery to the HU. If that was the case, wouldn't the HU be powered on all the time, killing my battery? Or are you going from the battery to the "on" on the ignition to the HU?

The power wires that you run directly from the battery connects to the power circuit that is only used when the head unit is on. It will work the exact same way as it does now, but with a larger power wire.

does anyone know what model changes button colors? im looking at the CDA-9825 to replace my pioneer DEH-1600 and it would be nice if i could have a headunit that matched to cars displays.
