aftermarket radio installs - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

To get better help, it'd probably be best to post in the Audio forums.

You will want to try Metra for the harness kit you will need. On 2k models, the stereo also controls the chime function, so upgrading the stereo w/o the proper harness will screw up your warning chime. Steering wheel controls - you will lose this with any main kit you buy. You CAN get an add-on decoder that wires into the steering wheel outputs and translates them into IR that the aftermarket stereo can understand, but requires you to mount the IR LED somewhere in front of the stereo (like the console or the shifter boot/****).
