No they wont work, you have to buy the module for it. You can find it in many places on the net, depending on the brand. Do some searches on this topic and you will see.

Some manufacturers also sell an interface so you don't have to use the crappy PAC SWI-X interface.

It should be known that the PAC SWI or SWX is not crappy. Far as I recall nearly everyone using it likes and enjoys it. The only real downfall is having to install an LED somewhere and that can also be overcome.

When given the option of no wheel controls or a PAC..I'll take a PAC w/o a question.

Crappy to me is sitting 1.5 feet from the radio and having to use a remote control to work the functions.

I agree, I highly reccommend the PAC module. I had no problems with mine when I was using it and it does what it'* supposed to do. Sure it would be nice if you could simply interface the wiring into the radio directly but as Bill said, I'd take PAC over a remote control.

Pontiac66613, you might find the programming a bit tricky but it'* not too bad once you do it once or twice. The modlue is about $50 if I remember correctly.

The PAC unit actually will plug into the minijack on the back of my Alpine. I am eager to see if that really works.

I wasn't happy with mine. It repeatedly lost it'* memory and had to be re-programmed. I threw it in the garbage after about a month.

A friend recently bought an iPod interface from the same company (PAC). It was pure junk. His second unit works better, but with some interference noises.


I'm no longer a fan of anything that company makes. I'll buy the JVC interface for my deck that is designed by them to work with my controls.

Anyone here ever try the Peripheral interface for steering wheel controls ?

I've yet to have the pleasure of installing one of these but their other products are good.

I've, personally, installed the Peripheral brand in many vehicles at work. They work good, haven't had one person back yet with it not working.
