Hey, I was putting a new system in my 97 SE. I'm still deciding on what I want to do with the subs. I'm getting 2 12" Alpine Type-R'*. Anyone with pics of their systems, feel free to lend some advice. Also, this is the first system that I'm putting into this kind of car, could someone tell me if the trunk rattles? I used to own a Lumina and it used to rattle like crazy!

seems to rattle in the middle in places(very odd places too) least on mine...
i got sock shoved inbetween my bumper and trunk....i would suggest dynamat but that stuff is expensive and ifyour system is too loud it cracks and is pointless

I have 2 12" IMPP and the trunk doesnt rattle that bad. Of course the older the car the more its going to rattle, or after time everything will rattle. You can go on ebay and buy that fat boy dnyamat, its pretty cheap. You cang get 100sq ft for $100. That should be enought to do almost the entire trunk twice.

Dynamat has never Cracked... hahaha.. from my previous experience.. another thing you also want to try is to tighten up your trunk latch.. by loosening the 2 or 3 bolts that holds the latch on the hood door part.. and moveing it higher so it keeps the door closed more firmly.. and also requires more force to close it. Use rubber inserts around the plate and bolt to help prevent the license from rattling.

You'll also want to do some siliconing your exhaust heat shields. Mine rattle like a f'ing drunk monkey and I'm only running a single 12" MTX with 500 watts.
As for sound outside the car, when the trunk, windows and sunroof are closed, you can hardly hear any bass, but inside it'* whole differrent story and I don't use any sound deadening material except behind my front 5.25"* I have a 10"x10" sheat of Dynamat and will probably put some behind the rear door speakers eventually.
But like it was mentioned above, every car is going to be different, but with a few similarites. best thing to do would be to adjust the trunk lock, the silicone behind the license plate at top, and the exhaust heat shields.

I have 2 apline type r'* in my trunk( just got them switched from old bonnie to new one today YEEEHHHHAAA) boy are they loud. I got a rf 750s amp running them. Boy switching out the deck made one heck of a difference on the high end. The bose speakers sound lots better with my alpine 7894 head unit. I just might leave those speakers in the car. I'll take some pics later today and have them up a bit later. Laters

i know someone that has a 2500 dollar system....nad he put dynamat in and it cracked and didnt work

You can also use this stuff called Peel and Seal. It works just like dynomat but it is alot cheaper. You can find it at Carter Lumber or any hardware store. You might have to put two layers down but it works just fine.

About dynamat cracking, that just comes to me as being odd. doesnt seem like it would be able to crack at all....the only way i could think of, is if you live in a really cold area and it gets cold and dries? i dunno....but i have a trunk kit and by feeling it, id never thought possible.
