Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Default ? about install on 01 Silverado, antenna size, and aux input

Hey guys, before I rip my dash apart, messing with my stereo setup, got a few ?'*.

What size antenna plug is on the factory radio? I'm trying to wire in a Sirius Direct FM adapter, and a few cars I've done this to, needed 2 antenna adapters to be able to get it to work. I'd like to know before hand, so I can pick up the adapters first if I need them.

Second, I have the in dash CD only unit, with aux input. That aux input right now, appears to be connected to the factory remote mount tape deck in the center console. I have no need at all for it, and eventually I want to mount my 2 way (2 meter mobile unit) and maybe the CB units in there. The question I have is, can I somehow use this as a direct aux in point for my Sirius radio? The Sirius dock has both FM outputs, and stereo jack outputs. If there is a way I can connect the stereo output to use the aux switch on the factory radio once I remove the tape player, that would be great. Anyone know if its possible or a harness kit is available?
I'd rather go aux in, and keep the audio quality if possible.

Nvm on the antenna adapter. Its a smaller one, which needed one for each side. Unfortunately, the kit I got was junk. I had it put together and the center connection for the antenna output broken right off. Pure garbage. The only one anyone had was a 5 into 1, and 1 into 5 deal, and it was way too much wire to stuff back there, not to mention weak wire connectors. The output just snapped off. Anyone looking for an antenna adapter for their radio, avoid this type at all costs.

I'd still like to know if there is any way to take the tape deck out and use that as a means of getting audio in through some aux way? There wasn't any unusual connectors on the back, so I'm not sure of the wiring on this. I know a few radios had changer controls, and you could use that with a harness as an aux in, but this one just controls the remote tape player.
