Default 99 Bonneville SE Front Door Speaker Installation - HELP

HI Everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knew how easy it was to replace the front door speakers in a 99 Bonneville? I am wondering if the grills come off without having to take the door panel off .. or does the door panel have to come off and basically just curious as to how simple the process might be, if anyone knows or has done it before and could give their two cents i would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

Just so you know, the speakers are not attached to the grills. Even if you take them off, you still don't have access to the speakers.

the door speakers are 5 1/4 " speakers.

if you are going with component speakers the stock tweeters are 1.5" I believe.

so with a new set of 5.25" speakers, if i removed the door panel would the rest of the installation be pretty simple? would i need to solder anything or would the factory brackets work alright?

apologize for all of the questions, kind of new at all this but i appreciate all of your help.

speakers are held in with 4 philips screws. So if you have a screw driver you can do that. If you want to cut the stock harness you can either put connectors on it or solder the wires directly to the speaker. OR you can try to find a harness clip so that you can leave the stock wiring un touched.

Or, in other words, the stock speaker plugs most likely wiil not fit an aftermarket speaker (I don't remember if they are bigger or smaller). But that should be the only difficulty in replacing them (once you get the door panels off)
