Audio (and aftermarket electronics) This is your place for alarms, remote starters, to brag about your system, exaggerate your db levels, or simply ask questions for stock or aftermarket audio. No Flames! (except from roasted amps)

Default 98 Aurora cd cass radio info. anyone??

Ok it arrived from eBay.

Now I want to install it in the 93 bonne SE, to replace the stock cass / radio.
Like Randman'* great install, 2 din into 1.5 din Fitment, isn't a problem for me,
but I need some info on the harness/ plug/ wiring.

(looking from rear)
It has the single 32 pin female socket, close to right hand side on the back of the radio,
with a separate 7mm. antenna connector, to the left
and a black plastic locator pin near the bottom, just left of center

Was hoping it would be a simple plug and play. but........( sigh)
.
Q1. Does it slip into a dash mounted cage w/ integral plugs?
..If so..
Q2. Anyone got one to spare?
Q3 . If not, I can probably get something for harness, at the wrecker.
Just not sure at this point how it connects.
I want to wire it up, before I do any cutting, just to be sure it works ok.

This is the unit:

Worse case scenario... it goes back on E-bay...

Well you may have more problems that just the wiring... in that picture you show a Bose unit. Is that what you have? I could be wrong but i think some of the bose units do NOT have integral amps because of the external one in the rear. This might not be true for the Aurora but who knows. As for the wiring, you're going to need a few things. One, you'll need the stock Oldsmobile HU wiring harness pigtail, like this: http://www.installer-data.com/item/d...php?it=71-2001

This plugs into the RADIO. Then you need this: http://www.installer-data.com/item/d...php?it=70-1858

To plug into your factory HARNESS. You need to splice these two together. Far as i know the antenna is the same motorola mini-plug. Hope this helps!

Well, It'* got an awful big finned heatsink on the **** side of the case....3 1/2" X 4 " X 1/2"
I'd suspect that, to be for the Output Amp Xistors

But even that'*, not a problem either, as I have a 5 channel Aftermkt Amp,
and two 10 " subs to go with it, from another installation that never made it to fruition.

Hey no problem. I posted in a specific aurora forum just to double check for you on the amp/no amp thing, but since you already have the external amps taken care of it will be fine either way! Make sure and get pics along the way.

Well, will do...... if it ever stops raining here..
I planned for this week, as vacation back in July,
and it hasn't been a very good one so far,
with pouring rain, even forecast for the rest of the week!
( No garage here)

Was going to use the week to do my planned mods.... but.....(sigh!)

My neighbor," Noah" started building a boat........
He calls it an Ark. .................Funny name for a boat...

Just got the answer from my post at the aurora forum, the Bose and non-Bose cd/cassette are in fact the same. But you get the cool Bose label
