93 Premium Sound Question
Is it possible to use the gain adjustment on dash below stereo with after market amp that has remote gain control? I have a 93 SSE with factory CD player/ premium sound system. I just wanted to try and keep gain adjustment functioning just with aftermarket audio goodies. Unless I have to keep the factory CD unit in and wire the amp in as spkr level. I like the way it is asthetically and did not want to drill holes and that to install a remote gain control from an aftermarket amp.

Sure can. That'* what I do with mine. But it will only be effective for your subs. The stock gain control increases the power to the woofer portion of the rear 6x9'*. You'll see the those 6x9'* have four leads. 2 for the woofer, 2 for the midrange. I ran the woofer pair to my sub amp, and got instant remote gain control for my subs.

So help me understand this if I swap out the fact. cd for say my Kenwood (KDC-4019), then it might screw up the climate control?? Im normall to just bypasing the factory wiring and wire(14Gu) the aftermarket spkrs(POLK) and such straight to the cd player. I've just never had a fact audio system like this. I apologize if this all seems redundant, I obviously have the knowledge.
Um, isn't this the place where Andy jumps in to point out that the factory stereo unit on '92 and '93 models also powers the climate-control display, and so swapping it out can knock out the HVAC display?
How do you work around that problem, anyway?
