Yikes Coolant in the Oil

Well tuesday night my son came in and said the Bonneville got hot...he said he didn't let it overheat but when he checked the coolant was low...so I checked it out and found the water pump was leaking pretty good out the weep hole...so I installed a new water pump...thats when the fun began...try as I might I couldn't get the air out of the system...is their a procedure for that problem...it is a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi with 240K on it...well finally I got it bled out and the car was running fine right on its standard 200 degree mark...he drove it about 30 miles and reported to me thursday night it was getting hot again so he parked it...I went out and fired it up and noticed a bit of a miss...and I also saw no antifreeze in it...what gives...so I pulled the oil dipstick and ouch...coolant in the oil...so today I spent the afternoon getting the intake and heads off...the intake gaskets appear to be the culprit...but how tough are the heads...they look fine but should I get the checked before I reassemble everything and have more problems...any thoughts??

You had a LIM gasket failure. Your heads should be fine. Make sure you use the aluminum gaskets.

Thanks...I was pretty sure that was the only problem...the heads look fine...man what a mess...parts store wants a premium for that gasket set...says the head bolts need replaced also...3 hours to tear it down...probably got alot more time putting it together...the plastic pieces that go from the timing cover to the heater hose manifold both broke...are those readily available?/

Hope there OK as well. The real pain will be getting the water out of the engine. Check on some seafoam. I pretty sure you can add that to oil and that should help pull the water out.

I have flushed the top down...and everything that bolts on up there will be water free...I was hoping to do 2 or 3 back to back oil changes after I get it running to flush it out

I laid in bed and thought about that goo stuck to the inside of the valve covers and the bottom of the LIM.....is it possible to remove the oil pan without any major work??...if so I think I will pull it to and clean it out thouroughly
