Default Why'd it go so slow???

Any ideas on this one?

I'm driving home from work, about 5:30 or so, and get stuck in the traffic resulting from the Vice Presidents motorcade. So I'm sitting in one spot for a while, I turn the ignition off since we're not going anywhere. Around 6:15 the cars ahead start moving so I start the car again, throw her into gear, hit the gas, and she'* got no umph! I was moving, slower than I should have been for how far the pedal was pressed. Once I started rolling I slowly built up some speed and things seemed to be ok again, but this has never happened to me before. I'm wondering just how concerned I should be about it and what might have caused it.

One of the marvels of computer technology.
Just like when your desktop computer sometimes locks up for no good reason.
It has happened to me a couple of times over the years with my Bonne...although not for some time now thank goodness.
I still love the predictability of a 4 barrel carb and HEI ignition....simple.

Still, the PCM does have it'* advantages.
There may be times when you simply have to reboot by turning off the ignition and starting up again. :?

I get that sometimes if Im slowing way down to make a turn and try to accel after the turn, its sluggish to come around or there is a sorta pause before the car realizes the pedals being pressed.

or maybe it was excessive heat soak that caused the huge loss of power?

What I'm hearing is that so long as it doesn't happen very often I shouldn't worry about it. I can live with that.
