Default why my CAI doesnt make sound??

hi,
i just installed my custom made CAI,
heres the way i did it:

-i keep the original rubber that hold the sensor.
-the pipe is made from a ABS piping(pvc)14 inch long
- and a high flow cone filter(like k&n)

my question is: Why it doesnt have the throaty sound?
i can ear the supercharger a lot more(funny :P )
but my goal was to ear that throaty sound :?

what should i do? is it because its a supercharged engine?

if you guys have some hint on that it could be great.

CAI pipe...

NA = groan
SC = whine

whine>groan

The M90 from 96-2003 will NOT whine like the M62 of 92-95 vintage, mainly because the M62 spins faster. The whine you hear is the straight-cut gears in the nosedrive.

One key to the equation may be your filter which is 'Like a K&N'. I've seen those filters hold WATER. No * H I T. Take it off and fill it with water. If it holds the water, throw it away. If it holds water, it'* also acting as a sound baffle. Or try running without it for a couple minutes (actually driving, not just revving in the driveway).

I thought the whine was from the harmonics of the intake pulses, not the gears. That'* why it gets louder with an opened up intake.

Ever hear the whine of an INDY car at 12000 rpms? That'* the gearbox. Straight cut gears. Just like our superchargers. The M62 is the same. That'* what you hear.

If you want groan from a SC car, get an exhaust system. If you open up the intake or add boost the whine is what will be pronounced.

So why does it get louder when you open up the intake? And with throttle closing it quiets because the throttle plate disrupts the sound. I've never even considered it being the gears before... I need to ponder this one.

Ever notice the difference in the airbox designs for the Series 1? The L27'* have a slightly different box design than the L67......but in the Series 2, they're either more similar or identical.

The M90 doesn't have to spin as fast to create equal flow and boost, so it doesn't have the pronounced whine.

The whine my car (and DrJay'*) makes is identical to an Indy car transmission. And I'm spinning mine at an insane speed when you factor in my pulley size and raised redline.
